While the rest of the country was enjoying a peaceful Christmas break, Metec’s four largest and most senior workhorses found themselves on the move once more—their third relocation, to be exact. Swapping the hustle and bustle of the city for a quieter, more nature-friendly suburban setting, they’ve found a place that better suits their distinguished age.
Since these old gentlemen are a bit on the heavier side—tipping the scales at around 40 to 70 tons—moving them required special transport, heavy-duty equipment, and even temporary road closures. To minimize disruption for fellow road users, the entire operation took place in the late evening and nighttime hours.
Whether this will be their final workplace before a well-earned retirement remains to be seen.
In addition to these heavyweight machines, Metec also relocated a considerable amount of smaller equipment, materials, and semi-finished stock to Tõrvandi over the holidays.
Looking at the bigger picture, the move consolidates the production of material-intensive and large-batch products in Tõrvandi.
This, in turn, freed up much-needed space at Ringtee Street, which is now dedicated to assembling and manufacturing more complex and intricate products.
With the new factory space up and running, Metec now has the necessary infrastructure in place for the next three years to support its strategic growth plans.
And if needed, the Tõrvandi production area can be expanded by an additional 8000 square meters in no time.
