At the end of June, Metec Group visited Automatica Munich, Europe’s leading trade fair for industrial automation and robotics. It’s the place where the future of manufacturing comes together: artificial intelligence, robotics, and smart automation. The event offered a chance to see the latest automation solutions and even test them hands-on – an ideal opportunity for manufacturing companies to refine their investment plans.
Automation is nothing new at Metec — just this spring, we upgraded our hydraulic presses (you can read more about that here). At Metec CNC, our employees are supported by a robot that now successfully assists our dual-spindle CNC lathe. Originally intended for just one product family, the robot was soon adapted for use in the production of other components as well. As a prime example, we managed to reduce the need for operator intervention from two minutes to two hours, achieving a significant productivity boost at this workstation.
In the near future, Metec Group plans to make major investments in modernizing existing equipment and introducing new automation solutions. We are in the final stages of implementing a brand-new robotic polishing solution for finishing vehicle accessory products. An investment is also planned for a new automated powder coating line to increase our painting capacity. To expand our sheet metal processing capabilities, we are preparing to invest in a new sheet laser cutting machine. In the coming years, Metec CNC also aims to upgrade both its milling and turning machines, maintaining our position at the forefront of CNC machining in Estonia and leading the way in next-generation manufacturing. We hope to realize the first of these investments by the end of the year.
